Gate4EcoAI Platform — World-Leading Smart Sustainable Cities
2025 – Ongoing · Preprint released April 2026 · AI Techniques and Digital Enablers
A digital evidence-to-policy platform mapping AI and non-AI initiatives from the world's leading smart sustainable cities. Part 1 addresses urban water management. Among 265 global cities assessed, 99 were classified as Best Smart Sustainable Cities (BSSCs) and 20 as Gold tier. The platform benchmarks solutions, AI techniques (anomaly detection, supervised ML), and digital enablers (IoT, cloud) to inform resilient water governance in cities such as Manaus and other vulnerable Amazonian municipalities.

Participatory Smart City Model for the Amazon
2021–2023 · Published: PeerJ Computer Science, e1694 (2023)
Survey-based independent research (n=1,242 Manaus residents) identifying the five most critical urban environmental problems and proposing the P⁵ Model and Citizen Engagement Kit — a framework of 120 participatory and digital approaches to co-create smart city solutions. The study revealed critically low citizen participation due to weak public administration engagement, providing a roadmap for inclusive smart city governance in the Amazon.
